ILAIS and OGS co-hosted the International Visitor Leadership Program organized by the US State Department
On November 18th, the Office of Global Strategies (OGS) along with the Institute for Latin American and Iberian Studies (ILAIS) co-hosted a special section of the International Visitor Leadership Program organized by the US State Department.
Authorities of the higher administration of universities of Lusophone countries (Angola, Sao Tome, and Principe, and Brazil) were the special guests. The objectives for the project outlined by the Department of State were: explore administration best practices at U.S. universities, colleges, and community colleges; understand how U.S. universities and colleges develop and maintain sustainable international partnerships; explore public-private partnerships, with an emphasis on commercialization, technology transfer, and job creation; review university and college best practices for monetizing research, and explore how universities and colleges support faculty collaboration and international research.
The CatholicU speakers at the event were Vice-Provost Duilia de Mello (OGS), Associate Director Livia Lopes (ILAIS and OGS-Latin America), Associate Professor Jandro Abot (School of Engineering), and Director Grace Schneider (OGS-Education Abroad).
The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program. Through short-term visits to the United States, current and emerging foreign leaders in a variety of fields experience this country firsthand and cultivate lasting relationships with their American counterparts. Professional meetings reflect the participants’ professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the United States.
