ILAIS Director

Livia Lopes has graduated summa cum laude from the J.D. and from the M.A. programs of the Rio de Janeiro State University's Law School (Brazil). She has attended the University of Coimbra (Portugal) and the University of Salamanca (Spain) as a visiting student, and the Ohio State University (USA) and Georgetown University (USA) as a visiting researcher. Livia came to the Catholic University in 2020.

In addition to serving as ILAIS Director, Livia is the Director of The Oliveira Lima Library, where she manages an impressive ibero-american and Portugal collection, among which is the largest historical Brasiliana, outside of Brazil. Livia is also an advisor to the CatholicU Student Organization of Latinos (SOL). Livia also teaches classes and conducts research on Latin American and Brazilian studies with a concentration in Law, Politics and Public Policy.
